01 — Where to start

You might be here because…

Three of the places this work most often begins. Any of them is a fine door to walk through.

01

Feeling anxious or overwhelmed?

Maybe your brain rarely turns off. You replay conversations, anticipate what could go wrong, put pressure on yourself to make the "right" decision, or feel responsible for keeping everything together. Therapy can help you understand what's fueling the anxiety, quiet the constant overthinking, and feel more grounded and confident in yourself.

02

Relationships taking up too much mental space?

Maybe you're constantly wondering where you stand, worrying that something is wrong, struggling to communicate what you need, or losing yourself trying to keep a relationship secure. Together we can work on the attachment patterns, fears, and relationship dynamics underneath the anxiety so you can build healthier relationships without abandoning yourself.

03

Can't say no without feeling guilty?

You might know you need boundaries and still find yourself over-explaining, avoiding conflict, managing everyone else's feelings, or saying yes when you really want to say no. Therapy can help you understand where these patterns came from, build stronger boundaries, and learn to choose yourself without feeling like you're doing something wrong.

02 — Why work with me

Evidence-based care, delivered like a human being.

A therapist who gets it

I understand the unique pressures Millennials and Gen Z face — burnout from hustle culture, constant comparison on social media, family dynamics rooted in generational differences, and the challenge of building healthy relationships in a world that often rewards self-sacrifice.

Evidence-based + compassionate

Healing isn't about quick fixes, it's about lasting change. I combine evidence-based approaches with a warm, nonjudgmental presence — practical tools to use between sessions, plus steady support to face the deeper patterns that keep you stuck.

Flexible, virtual sessions

Life is busy, and making time for therapy should be simple. I offer online therapy across California and Washington, so you can meet from home, your office, or anywhere you feel safe — the same personalized support, without the commute.

A culturally considerate approach

I'm Indian-American and in an interracial relationship. I believe things like your race, ethnicity, gender, sexual preference, and socioeconomic status all impact your experiences in unique and important ways — and I work with that, not around it.

03 — How it works

Beginning therapy can feel overwhelming, so I keep it simple.

04 — About Maya

I'm here because I am (and always have been) a helper.

For a long time, I was the person putting other people's needs before my own because it was important for me that other people felt safe and happy. Through my own therapy, I learned about boundaries (thank goodness) — and about the field of psychotherapy, where I could make caring about others my career.

The technical stuff: I'm a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in private practice, trained and qualified to diagnose and treat mental health disorders in individuals, couples, and families. I received my Bachelor's in Psychology from the University of Washington and my Master's in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage & Family Therapy from Pepperdine University.

More importantly, I'm human. I believe there is nothing more powerful or fulfilling than creating trusting and transformative relationships. Through connection, people heal. Through connection, people change and grow.

I'm a mom. I started going to therapy when I was 15. I believe medication can be enormously helpful to ease suffering — and I never push it on anyone, because it's your body and your decision.

"There is only one corner of the universe you can be certain of improving, and that's your own self."

05 — FAQs

Frequently asked questions

What are the steps for starting therapy?

The first step is to contact me through the contact forms on my website or directly through email/phone. Then we'll schedule an intro call to get to know each other — this is a chance for both of us to ask questions to help understand whether we'd be a good fit. If we determine that we're a good fit, we schedule an initial appointment, and then I email you with new client paperwork and details for our first session.

What is the time commitment for therapy?

You can expect to attend therapy once a week for at least 6 weeks at the onset of treatment. I reserve a recurring appointment time for you on my schedule. Appointments are 45 minutes for individual therapy or 60 minutes for couples therapy.

How does payment work?

You can pay prior to or at the end of our appointment. I take credit card, cash, check, or direct deposit through a third party application. Failure of payment will result in termination of services.

What is a sliding scale and how do I know if I qualify?

A sliding scale is a type of fee structure that allows people with fewer resources the ability to afford treatment at a lower fee. Depending on your financial situation, you may qualify for lower rates for treatment. This can be discussed over a phone call.

What is your cancellation policy?

I require 48-hours notice to cancel appointments without financial repercussion, otherwise you will be charged a full session fee for missed or late-canceled appointments. If I have availability, I can offer same week reschedules.
